Marketing situation
Retailers, especially mass merchandisers, are continually cutting back staff to provide lower overheads and better pricing of their merchandise to consumers. Frequent staff turnover and the large variety of merchandise carried by the retailers make it very difficult for employees to obtain sufficient product knowledge to efficiently sell your products. Often, just keeping enough stock on the shelves can present a problem. Out of stock situations, pricing discrepancies and poor presentation can lose sales and cost money. Retailers welcome companies that will save staff time and ensure effective product knowledge. Many manufacturers presently use their own sales force and/or representatives to service the store. Not only is this an expensive proposition, but these sales calls only cover a fraction of the stores that need servicing. |
